Our logistics solutions are sustainable in the long run.
At Speed, sustainability is high on the agenda, and naturally, our logistics solutions are as sustainable as everything else we do. We set high standards for our operations, standards that we monitor, evaluate, and refine continuously. All to ensure that you as a customer can be confident that your warehouse solution is sustainable – for the environment and for people.
CO2-neutral operations.
Our operations aim to reduce annual greenhouse gas emissions in line with the 1.5-degree target. As part of this, we have set a goal to become completely CO2-neutral by 2025 at the latest. This is a crucial component of green logistics.
All the electricity we use is green. And we use as little as possible.
At one of our warehouses in Borås, we have the largest solar panel installation in the Nordic region. Since it’s an effective way to achieve green logistics, we are exploring similar solutions for our other warehouse facilities. Because that’s how we think – where we operate, we should be able to produce enough electricity for ourselves and have some to spare. Additionally, all lighting in our warehouses is LED lighting. 40% of our forklifts are powered by lithium-ion batteries – a figure that should be 100% by 2025. All the electricity we purchase for our operations comes from solar, wind, or hydroelectric power.
Sustainable transportations.
We engage in active dialogue with our customers and suppliers on how we can contribute to the transition towards more environmentally friendly transportation. As part of this, all of our own vehicles are to be powered by electric or hybrid engines by 2024. Green logistics in a nutshell.
Resource management and recycling.
We have ambitious goals for waste recycling. At least 75% of all waste should become new raw materials, and we aim to limit landfill disposal to a maximum of 1%. We compact all recyclable waste, thereby minimizing the need for transportation and generating as few emissions as possible. This mindset creates the conditions for green logistics.
Sustainable workwear.
An environmentally sustainable garment is one that we can use for a long time while maintaining its quality. Quality and reuse are important to us. For this reason, we repair damaged clothes as much as possible. The goal is for at least 25% of the heavier clothes that our employees use to be reused. As soon as we have good alternatives, we switch to workwear made from organic cotton and recycled fibers.
